Terms of Service
Last updated August 12, 2026
1. The service
Standby ("we", "us") provides a client-side failover script that registers a service worker on your website. When your website becomes unreachable, the service worker redirects returning visitors — those who previously loaded a page with the script installed — to a backup URL you configure. Standby does not proxy, mirror, or route traffic for your site under normal operation.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be able to form a binding contract to use Standby. You are responsible for the accuracy of the website and backup URLs you configure, and for keeping your account credentials secure.
3. Subscription and billing
Standby is billed at $2.99 per website per year. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. You can cancel anytime from your Subscription page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
4. Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for the content and availability of your backup URL. Standby does not review, endorse, or guarantee the destination you configure. You agree not to use Standby to redirect visitors to malicious, deceptive, or unlawful content.
5. No guarantee of detection
Standby's failure detection depends on the visitor's browser having previously installed the service worker and being online at the time of failure. We do not guarantee that every outage will be detected or that every returning visitor will be redirected.
6. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Standby's total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost revenue or lost visitors.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these terms, including misuse of the redirect mechanism. You may stop using Standby at any time by removing the install script from your site and cancelling your subscription.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-product notice. Continued use of Standby after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
